2nd DGP Cup State Open Chess Tournament Scheduled for June 27-28

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 11: The Andaman & Nicobar Police, in collaboration with the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA), will organize the 2nd DGP Cup A&N State Open Chess Tournament 2026 at the Drill Hall, Police Line, APU, Sri Vijaya Puram, on June 27 and 28.

The tournament is expected to bring together chess players from across the islands and will be conducted under the rules and regulations of the FIDE, following the Swiss System of Play.

According to organizers, the championship is open to players belonging to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Participation, however, will require a valid registration with the All India Chess Federation (AICF) for the 2026-27 season.

An entry fee of Rs. 350 has been fixed for participants. Entries will be accepted until 5 pm on June 25.

The event will feature cash prizes, trophies and certificates for winners in the Overall Open Category. Organizers have also announced separate trophies and certificates for top-performing players in the Sub-Junior (Under-15 years) and Junior (Under-17 years) categories for both boys and girls.

Officials said the tournament is aimed at promoting competitive chess in the islands while providing local players an opportunity to compete under internationally recognized regulations.

Interested participants have been asked to submit their entries to the Sports Section, APU Police Line, Sri Vijaya Puram, on or before the deadline.
