Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 23: Students from schools across South Andaman competed in chess, yoga and table tennis during an inter-school tournament organised by the Deputy Education Office, South Andaman, with the week-long event concluding on September 22 at the GSSS Model School Auditorium.
The tournament, held from September 16 to 22, brought together students from schools under the jurisdiction of the Deputy Education Office, South Andaman, across different age groups and events. The concluding ceremony included felicitation of the winners, who received medals and certificates for their performances.
In chess, Aradhya Raj of SSS NCS won the girls’ Class I-V category, followed by S. Rudrani of Army Public School Brichgunj and T. Aarohi of SSS Carmel. Among boys in the same class group, SSS Carmel’s Saw Jinson Samuel secured first place, with Eshaan of SSS NCS second and Yashaank of VKV Lamba Line third.
For girls in Classes VI-VIII, D Charvi of VKV Lamba Line finished first, S Bhavishya of GMSSS Aberdeen second and Krishnapriya B Rajesh of SSS Sagaritara third. Supratik Mandal of SSS NCS won the corresponding boys’ category, ahead of Rohan Singh of SSS Carmel and B. Hari Prasad of VKV Ranchi.
In Classes IX-XII, Kavya Raj of SSS VKV Lamba Line, S. Vidya of SSS KEMS and Chitti Boina Mageswari of GMSSS Aberdeen took the top three positions among girls. D. Shrestha Vijay of SSS Carmel, A. Sharad of SSS Sagaritara and M.A. Dinakar of SSS KEMS secured the first three places among boys.
Yoga results covered Classes VI-VIII and IX-X for both boys and girls. GSS Junglighat teams won both girls’ categories, while VKV Lamba Line and GSS Junglighat teams topped the boys’ VI-VIII and IX-X categories respectively.
In U-16 table tennis, Jacey Issac Palasker won the girls’ singles and, with Varnika Agarwal, the doubles. Akshab Mistry won boys’ singles, while Jaisson Issac and Aporva Bagchi took the boys’ doubles title.
