Centre Opens Design for Bharat 2027 Challenge to Young Innovators, Extends Application Deadline

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, October 26: Young Indians aged 18 to 29 have until October 31 to apply for Design for Bharat 2027, a national initiative seeking practical product-design solutions to real-world challenges, with applicants from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands directed to a designated nodal institute for guidance.

The Department of Youth Affairs under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, is inviting applications for the initiative, which forms part of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027. The programme aims to engage young people in developing tangible and inclusive design solutions aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

The 2027 edition offers two categories for participants. The Open Challenge invites submissions of product designs that address real-world problems, while the Graduation Project Challenge provides a national platform for showcasing exceptional product-design thesis projects.

Selected work will benefit from expert mentoring and national-level evaluation, with participants also receiving opportunities to present their designs on a national stage.

For applicants in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dr. E. Muthu Kumaran, Competition Nodal Officer (CNO) at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), will provide queries and guidance. The institute has been designated as the State Nodal Institute (SNI) for the Union Territory.

Eligible applicants can submit their applications through the official My Bharat portal at https://mybharat.gov.in/pages/design-for-bharat. The extended deadline gives interested participants until the end of October to complete the application process.

The initiative brings product-design projects and solutions developed by young people into a national evaluation and presentation platform, with participation open to Indian youth within the specified age group.
