A&N Fisheries Invites SHGs to Run Sales Outlet at Museum-Cum-Aquarium

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 3: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration’s Department of Fisheries has invited applications from eligible Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the islands for the allotment of space to establish a sales outlet within the premises of the Departmental Fisheries Museum-cum-Aquarium in Sri Vijaya Puram. The initiative aims to create livelihood opportunities for local SHGs while expanding visitor facilities at one of the department’s public attractions.

According to the notification, the proposed sales outlet will be used for the marketing and sale of fisheries-related products and other items approved by the Department of Fisheries. The initiative is intended to provide an additional platform for eligible SHGs to market their products while enhancing services available to visitors at the Fisheries Museum-cum-Aquarium.

The Department has specified that only bonafide Self-Help Groups of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are eligible to apply. Applicant SHGs must be duly registered or recognised by the competent authority and are required to submit documentary proof of their registration or recognition along with the application.

The eligibility conditions also require that the applicant SHG should not have been blacklisted by any Government department or agency. In addition, applicants must comply with all applicable statutory requirements and any other conditions prescribed by the Directorate of Fisheries.

Interested SHGs have been asked to submit their applications on the official letterhead of the concerned Self-Help Group along with the required supporting documents. The applications must be duly recommended and forwarded by the respective Block Development Officer before submission.

Applications should be addressed to the Office of the Assistant Director of Fisheries (Museum-cum-Aquarium), Directorate of Fisheries, Sri Vijaya Puram.

The Department has fixed August 16, 2026, as the last date for submission of applications. Eligible Self-Help Groups seeking to establish the sales outlet are required to ensure that their applications, complete in all respects and accompanied by the necessary documents, reach the designated office on or before the prescribed deadline.

The initiative is expected to provide an organised marketing space for eligible Self-Help Groups while supporting the sale of fisheries-related products and other approved items within the Departmental Fisheries Museum-cum-Aquarium, in line with the Department’s objective of creating livelihood opportunities and improving visitor amenities.
