Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 26: Owners and operators of fishing vessels in South Andaman have 10 days to raise objections or submit claims over vessels proposed for cancellation of registration after the Zonal Fisheries Office completed verification of available records and assessed their present physical status.
The Zonal Fisheries Office, Sri Vijaya Puram, South Andaman, has prepared the list covering Non-Motorised (NM) fishing vessels, Mechanised Motorized (MM) fishing vessels and sports fishing vessels. The proposed cancellations follow an examination of the records available with the office and an assessment of the current physical condition or status of the vessels concerned.
The department has made the list public to enable vessel owners, operators and other stakeholders to examine the entries and provide any relevant information before the registration cancellation process proceeds.
The published list can be accessed through the official website of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, andamannicobar.gov.in, and the Department of Fisheries website, Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration.
Physical copies have also been displayed on the notice boards of the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman, Fisheries Sub Stations and Fish Landing Centres across South Andaman District.
Any person who has an objection, claim or relevant information concerning a vessel included in the proposed cancellation list can submit a representation to the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman. The representation must be accompanied by supporting documents.
The department has specified a 10-day period from the date of publication of the notice for submitting such representations. This provides vessel owners, operators and other concerned stakeholders a defined period to examine the entries and place relevant records or information before the fisheries authorities.
The notice calls on all concerned parties to carefully review the published list and submit objections, claims or other relevant information, if applicable, within the prescribed period.
Representations submitted after the stipulated 10-day period will not be entertained, according to the notice.
The publication of the list therefore places the responsibility on affected owners, operators and other stakeholders to check the entries and act within the specified timeframe if they have information or documents relevant to any vessel proposed for cancellation.
The Zonal Fisheries Office has initiated the process after examining available records and the present physical status of the vessels, covering both non-motorised and mechanised motorized categories as well as sports fishing vessels.
