Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 5: A total of 55 Children with Special Needs (CwSN) underwent identification and medical assessment during a two-day camp organised under the Inclusive Education Programme in Rangat and Kadamtala, with 11 children identified as suspected cases requiring further evaluation. The initiative brought together medical specialists and education support services to assess children and facilitate access to need-based assistance.
The camp was organised by the Block Project Office (BPO), Rangat, at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium and Government Senior Secondary School, Kadamtala. Medical teams and specialists from Community Health Centre (CHC), Rangat, Community Health Centre, Kadamtala, and ALIMCO-PMDK conducted the assessments.
According to the organisers, eligible children attending the camp were provided Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) Kits designed to meet their individual educational requirements. The kits were distributed as part of the support extended to children identified during the programme.
The assessment covered a broad range of health, educational and support services. Children underwent comprehensive health check-ups, vision and eye screening, hearing assessments and dental examinations. The camp also offered dietary counselling, educational and vocational evaluation, sign language support and guidance related to inclusive education.
Across both venues, 55 Children with Special Needs were assessed during the two-day programme. Of these, 11 children were identified as suspected cases and will require further evaluation.
The camp was conducted as part of the Inclusive Education Programme to facilitate identification and assessment of Children with Special Needs while providing access to specialist services at designated locations. Along with medical examinations, the initiative also addressed educational and developmental requirements by extending support services and distributing Teaching-Learning Material Kits to eligible beneficiaries.
The programme combined healthcare, educational assessment and specialised support services at a single platform, enabling eligible children to access multiple interventions during the assessment process conducted in Rangat and Kadamtala.
