Applications Open for ST Scholarship Schemes in A&N Islands for 2026–27 Academic Year

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 5: Eligible Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been invited to apply for fresh and renewal scholarships for the 2026–27 academic year under three scholarship schemes, with online applications to be submitted through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) by December 31, 2026. The initiative aims to ensure that eligible students receive financial assistance under schemes supported by the Union Territory Administration and the Government of India.

The scholarship schemes open for applications include the Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), the Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students under the CSS, and the Additional Scholarship for ST Students under the Union Territory Scheme.

For both the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship schemes, the parental income from all sources must not exceed ₹2.50 lakh per annum. Under the Additional Scholarship Scheme, all Scheduled Tribe students who are domiciles of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are eligible irrespective of the parental income ceiling.

The last date for submission of online applications under all three schemes is December 31, 2026. The deadline for verification of defective applications has been fixed as January 1, 2027. Institute-level verification will also be completed by January 1, 2027, while verification by the District Nodal Officer, State Nodal Officer and Ministry Nodal Officer has been scheduled to be completed by January 31, 2027.

Eligible students have been advised to submit their applications through the National Scholarship Portal under the State Scheme – Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The scholarships available on the portal include the Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students, the Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students and the Additional Scholarship for ST Students.

Applicants have also been advised to ensure that their Aadhaar details are updated and linked with their current bank account and registered mobile number to prevent failure of scholarship payments.

To assist students with the application process, dedicated helpdesks have been established in all schools and colleges to support Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries in submitting online applications through the National Scholarship Portal. In addition, a central helpdesk has been set up at the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, Secretariat Complex, Sri Vijaya Puram, to provide further assistance.

Eligible Scheduled Tribe students have been encouraged to apply within the prescribed timeline and avail themselves of the financial assistance offered under the scholarship schemes for the 2026–27 academic year.
