Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 31: Delays in completing development projects funded under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) came under review in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on October 30, with the administration directing implementing agencies to expedite pending works and complete them within stipulated timelines. The review covered projects sanctioned during the 17th and 18th Lok Sabha, including outstanding works from the previous parliamentary term and ongoing projects approved during the current one.
Member of Parliament Bishnu Pada Ray and the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) reviewed the implementation status at a meeting held at the Secretariat in Sri Vijaya Puram. The discussions focused on the progress of works sanctioned under the 18th Lok Sabha and the status of projects from the 17th Lok Sabha that remain pending.

The implementing agencies received directions to accelerate execution and ensure that outstanding projects reach completion within their respective deadlines. The meeting emphasised timely delivery, with the stated objective of ensuring that people receive the intended benefits of the publicly funded development works without further delay.
