Sri Vijaya Puram, September 16: Zilla Parishad, South Andaman organised an awareness session on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly known as the POSH Act, at its Conference Hall on Wednesday.
The session, held at 10:30 a.m., aimed to sensitise officials and staff about the provisions of the Act and promote awareness regarding the prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment at the workplace.
The programme also highlighted the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful and dignified working environment for employees.
The awareness session was conducted by Marya Sheela, Regional Head, and Vijay Kumar, Advisor, of PRAYAS Juvenile Aid Centre Society.
The resource persons explained key provisions of the POSH Act, including the responsibilities of workplaces, preventive measures, mechanisms for filing complaints and the role of the Internal Complaints Committee in addressing complaints of sexual harassment.
Officials and staff of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman participated in the session and interacted with the resource persons on various aspects related to implementation of the Act at the workplace.
The programme concluded with an emphasis on the collective responsibility of employees and institutions in ensuring a safe, inclusive and harassment-free working environment.
