Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: Construction of a proposed shed at the burial ground in Ward No. 2, Wimberlygunj, is yet to begin despite the work having already been awarded, prompting the South Andaman Zilla Parishad to direct engineering officials to complete preliminary requirements and start the project without further delay.
Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad South Andaman, P. Ummer, inspected the site on September 27 along with Chief Executive Officer Rajanish Singh, IAS, Zilla Parishad Member from Wimberlygunj A. Ummer, other Zilla Parishad Members, PRI representatives and engineering officials.
During the inspection, officials reviewed the existing site conditions and discussed the proposed construction with local PRI representatives. The inspection focused on the requirements that need to be completed before construction can commence.
Ummer directed the engineering team to take up the work at the earliest and ensure that all necessary preliminary arrangements are completed promptly. The project, which has already been awarded, is expected to provide the proposed facility at the burial ground for local residents.
He also instructed officials to execute the construction strictly according to the approved estimate and specifications. The directions included maintaining the required standards of quality, durability and workmanship during execution.
The concerned officials were further asked to closely monitor the project’s progress once work begins and ensure that construction is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The Zilla Parishad inspection brought together elected representatives, local PRI members and engineering officials to review the project at the site and address the steps required before construction starts.
The proposed shed is intended to serve residents using the burial ground in Ward No. 2, Wimberlygunj. The directions issued during the inspection place emphasis on commencing the awarded work promptly and completing it within the prescribed period.
