Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 31: A newly constructed Anganwadi centre and multipurpose hall have opened in Machilane, Ward No. 10, Sri Vijaya Puram, following an investment of approximately ₹40 lakh. The facilities are intended to strengthen access to services for children and mothers while providing residents with a shared venue for social and public activities.
Member of Parliament Bishnu Pada Ray inaugurated the two facilities. Their opening fulfils a long-standing demand raised by residents of the ward, who welcomed the availability of dedicated spaces for child and maternal services and community use.
The Anganwadi centre is expected to provide improved facilities for children and mothers. The multipurpose hall, meanwhile, will serve as a common space for various social and public activities, giving the locality a venue for community gatherings and programmes.

The inauguration brought together representatives of the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, political parties, social workers and local residents. The council’s chairperson, secretary and councillors attended the ceremony, along with BJP state president Anil Tiwari, senior social workers and office-bearers of the BJP and Congress.
During the event, the ward councillor, the MP and other dignitaries felicitated Tiwari.
The construction of the two facilities addresses a local infrastructure requirement in Ward No. 10. While the Anganwadi centre is intended to support services for children and mothers, the multipurpose hall adds a shared facility for activities involving the wider community.
Residents expressed satisfaction over the opening, describing the facilities as a response to a demand that had remained pending for a long time.
The project’s estimated cost stands at ₹40 lakh. The inauguration marks the opening of both facilities for their intended community purposes.
