World Homoeopathy Day 2026 Concludes in Andaman, AYUSH Push Highlights Role in Modern Healthcare

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), April 17: The month-long observance of World Homoeopathy Day 2026 concluded on April 13 in Sri Vijaya Puram, with health officials and stakeholders highlighting the continued relevance of homoeopathy in contemporary healthcare.

The closing ceremony was organised by the AYUSH Unit under the Directorate of Health Services in collaboration with the Andaman and Nicobar State Ayush Society under the National Ayush Mission. The event marked the culmination of a series of activities conducted across the islands to promote awareness about homoeopathy.

Director of Health Services H. M. Siddaraju attended the programme as the chief guest, while Sumitamol, Director of the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), was present as the guest of honour. Addressing the gathering, Siddaraju emphasised the importance of homoeopathy, describing it as a safe, effective and holistic system of medicine within the broader healthcare framework.

The ceremony began with floral tributes to Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy, setting the tone for the event. Medical Superintendent of G.B. Pant Hospital M. K. Saha and Sumitamol also addressed attendees during the programme.

Deputy Director (Ayush) Kalyan P. Kadbhane presented an overview of the activities conducted across the islands during the observance period, outlining outreach efforts and participation levels. Earlier, Manabika Dutta, Medical Officer In-Charge (Homoeo) at AYUSH Hospital, provided a brief introduction to the significance and structure of the event.

An educational skit on the homoeopathic management of autism, performed by students, formed a key segment of the programme, aiming to spread awareness through creative engagement. The event also featured a mini exhibition organised by various departments, showcasing initiatives and information related to homoeopathy and AYUSH systems.

Certificates were distributed to winners of competitions held during the observance, with dignitaries recognising participants for their involvement. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Supriya Arangi, Medical Officer (Homoeopathy).

Officials stated that the observance sought to promote understanding of homoeopathy and encourage its integration into broader healthcare awareness efforts across the islands.
