Science Centre Andaman to Host Sky Show, 3D Films and Light-Sound Events This Weekend

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), April 17: The Science Centre at Goodwill Estate on Corbyn’s Cove Road will conduct a series of special evening programmes for visitors on April 18 and 19, offering interactive science and astronomy-based experiences.

According to officials, the two-day programme schedule includes a Sky Show, a Jurassic Park-themed light and sound show, and 3D film screenings, aimed at engaging the general public with scientific learning and entertainment.

The Sky Show will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on both days. During the session, visitors will be provided with a sky map of the evening sky over Sri Vijaya Puram to help identify planets and other celestial objects. Participants will also have the opportunity to observe the planet Jupiter and its moons, Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto, commonly referred to as the Galilean moons, using a powerful telescope.

The Jurassic Park light and sound show is scheduled at 6:15 pm. The programme will depict the evolution of life across different geological eras through coordinated visual and audio effects, offering an immersive educational experience.

In addition, 3D shows will be screened twice each evening at 5:30 pm and 6:15 pm, providing visitors with visual science content in a three-dimensional format.

Officials stated that the initiative is designed to promote public engagement with science through accessible and interactive formats, particularly during weekend hours when visitor turnout is expected to be higher.

Entry to the Sky Show has been priced at Rs. 10 per person, while tickets for the 3D show and the Jurassic Park light and sound programme are set at Rs. 20 per person for each show.

The Science Centre, a key public outreach facility, continues to host such programmes to encourage scientific curiosity and awareness among residents and visitors in the islands.

Authorities have invited the public to attend the sessions and participate in the scheduled activities over the two-day period.
