Sri Vijaya Puram, July 13: School students across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands studying in Classes VI to XI can now register for Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) 2026-27, a national-level science talent search examination that will be conducted at Sri Vijaya Puram as part of a countrywide initiative aimed at promoting scientific learning and identifying young talent.
The National Council of Science Museum (NCSM), Kolkata, in partnership with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Ministry of Education, Government of India, and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), is organising the programme. The Science Centre, in association with the State Coordinator of VVM, will conduct the examination in Sri Vijaya Puram.
The examination is open to students studying in Classes VI to XI and will be conducted through an app-based digital platform. Participants will be able to take the examination using mobile phones, tablets, laptops or desktop computers. The examination will be available in 12 major regional Indian languages along with English and Hindi, enabling wider participation from students across the country.
The initiative is designed to encourage scientific temperament among school students while providing opportunities to strengthen their understanding of India’s scientific achievements and contributions.
According to the organisers, the programme will enable participants to gain knowledge about India’s contribution to science and learn about eminent Indian scientists and their work. Students will also be exposed to hands-on learning activities aimed at strengthening practical understanding of scientific concepts.
The organisers stated that the programme also seeks to develop leadership qualities among students through structured learning and competitive participation.
Students securing top positions at the national and zonal levels will undergo the Internship-cum-Extensive Training Programme (SRIJAN) at leading research and development laboratories across the country. National-level winners will also receive Bhaskara Scholarships under the programme.
Interested students may register either individually or through their respective schools by completing the online registration process. A dedicated Help Desk has also been established at the Science Centre to assist applicants on all working days between 10 am and 5.30 pm.
