Deputy Commissioner Reviews Flood-Hit Villages, Hears Public Grievances in North Andaman Outreach

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 13: The District Administration of North and Middle Andaman intensified its public outreach in flood-affected villages under Diglipur Tehsil, with Deputy Commissioner Sushant Padha conducting field inspections, interacting directly with residents and reviewing the delivery of essential public services during an extensive village visit under the ‘Sampark Se Samadhan – Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ initiative.

The outreach programme covered the villages of Subashgram, Sitanagar, Kishorinagar and Paschimsagar, where the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Panchayati Raj Institution representatives and Heads of Departments, carried out on-site inspections, held a Jan Sunwai and interacted with villagers to assess local issues requiring administrative intervention.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner undertook door-to-door interactions with residents and inspected households affected by recent flooding caused by heavy rainfall. He reviewed the condition of affected families and assessed the status of public services being provided in the villages.

The field visit also included inspections of schools and Anganwadi Centres to review the functioning of essential institutions and evaluate the delivery of government services at the grassroots level. Developmental works underway in the villages were also examined as part of the inspection.

Residents used the Jan Sunwai to place their grievances before the District Administration. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure prompt disposal of public complaints and initiate necessary follow-up action on the issues raised during the interactions.

He also instructed officials to complete developmental works within the prescribed timelines while maintaining the required quality standards. Departments were further directed to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of government welfare schemes without delay.

The outreach programme formed part of the District Administration’s continuing initiative to improve direct engagement with rural communities by taking government services closer to residents and strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms in remote areas.

According to the District Administration, the ‘Sampark Se Samadhan – Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ initiative focuses on doorstep governance through regular field visits, monitoring of developmental works, assessment of public service delivery and timely resolution of issues raised by citizens.

During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the initiative is intended to strengthen people-centric governance by improving access to government services, ensuring closer monitoring of development projects and extending the benefits of welfare programmes to even the remotest villages of North and Middle Andaman District.
