Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 11: Students in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands can now apply for UGC-recognised postgraduate diploma programmes under TribeX, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs’ digital learning platform, with exclusive scholarship support available to Scheduled Tribe students.
The Ministry has opened registrations for the 2026-27 academic session for five one-year Post Graduate Diploma programmes covering tribal languages, culture, arts, textiles, museology and livelihood practices. The programmes carry a fee of Rs 7,500 each and require applicants to hold a recognised undergraduate degree.
The five streams are Tribal Language: Santali (Ol Chiki), Museology and Tribal Museum Management, Tribal Culture and Arts, Sustainable Tribal Culture-based Livelihood Practices, and Tribal Textiles. The programmes operate in a flexible hybrid mode and provide learning opportunities with tribal knowledge experts and artisans.

Under the programme structure, students will also undertake a one-month internship. The diploma programmes are affiliated with Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, under the UGC framework.
For students from the Scheduled Tribes, the scholarship provision offers a specific opportunity to pursue the diploma programmes. The Ministry has particularly encouraged ST students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to apply and make use of the available support.
Alongside the postgraduate programmes, TribeX has opened more than 50 free certificate courses that are available to all learners, without the undergraduate degree requirement applicable to the diploma programmes.
The courses focus on areas including India’s tribal knowledge, culture, languages, arts, textiles, museology and sustainable livelihood practices, providing learners with access to structured programmes through the Ministry’s digital learning platform.
Registrations are currently open. Applicants from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands can access programme details and complete the online registration through the official TribeX portal at tribal.gov.in/TribeX.aspx.
Eligible students seeking further information can contact 9933210933. The Ministry has invited eligible learners, particularly ST students from the A&N Islands, to enrol in the programmes and access the scholarship support available under the postgraduate diploma courses.
