Missing Class IX Student Traced in Kadamtala Hours After Family Reported Disappearance

Sri Vijaya Puram, August 11:  A 14-year-old Class IX student who went missing from her residence in Rajiv Nagar, Uttara, Kadamtala, was traced in Shantanu on the same day and reunited with her mother after the authorities initiated a search.

The girl was reported missing at around 5 am on August 10, 2026, prompting Police Station Kadamtala to register an FIR under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The case was taken up for immediate search and tracing efforts.

The search covered several lines of enquiry. The police team examined CCTV footage, checked passenger manifests and conducted ground-level enquiries to establish the girl’s whereabouts. These efforts produced information indicating her presence in Shantanu, Kadamtala.

The girl was subsequently traced from Shantanu later the same day. Authorities then completed the necessary legal and procedural formalities before she was reunited with her mother.

The case places attention on the vulnerability of minors who go missing from their homes and the need for timely tracing when such reports are received. The circumstances surrounding the girl’s disappearance were not provided in the information released by the police.

The FIR registered at Police Station Kadamtala invokes Section 137(2) of the BNS, 2023. The provision forms part of the legal action initiated following the report of the minor’s disappearance.

The girl’s whereabouts were established through a combination of CCTV examination, passenger information and ground-level enquiries in Kadamtala. She was located in Shantanu and subsequently brought through the required procedures before being handed back to her mother.

The case was handled by the N&MA District Police, which said the girl was safely reunited with her family after being traced. No further details about the circumstances leading to her disappearance or her presence in Shantanu were provided.
