Divyangjan, Senior Citizens Invited to Apply for Assistive Devices

Date:

Summary

The Directorate of Social Welfare has invited applications from eligible Divyangjan and senior citizens for assistive devices under the Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra scheme being implemented at CRC Sri Vijaya Puram.

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 20: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK) scheme at the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Sri Vijaya Puram, with the aim of providing assistive devices to eligible Divyangjan and senior citizens across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Under the scheme, assistive devices are being distributed to support persons with disabilities and elderly citizens in improving mobility, accessibility, communication, education and day-to-day living.

The Directorate of Social Welfare has informed the general public that eligible beneficiaries can apply for the required assistive devices by submitting prescribed application forms along with supporting documents.

Officials stated that the application forms are available on the website of the Directorate of Social Welfare as well as through Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendras, Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), Mukhya Sevikas and Anganwadi Workers during office hours on working days.

Interested applicants have been asked to collect and submit the forms at the earliest.

The initiative is part of broader efforts aimed at improving accessibility and independent living support for persons with disabilities and senior citizens, particularly those requiring mobility aids and other assistive equipment for daily functioning.

Authorities said the scheme seeks to reduce barriers faced by Divyangjan and elderly persons in education, movement and communication by ensuring access to supportive devices based on eligibility criteria.

The Directorate of Social Welfare has advised applicants to ensure that all required documents are attached while submitting forms to avoid delays in processing.

Officials further stated that detailed information regarding eligibility conditions, required documentation and the application process can be obtained from the Directorate during working hours.

The PMDK initiative is being implemented through the Composite Regional Centre in Sri Vijaya Puram under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

The Department has appealed to eligible residents to take advantage of the scheme and complete the application process within the notified timeframe.
