Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 26: Vehicular movement on the road between Netaji Stadium and Corbyn’s Cove Beach will be restricted for six hours on September 27 to facilitate the smooth conduct of a Half Marathon marking the Silver Jubilee of HQ Andaman & Nicobar Command.
The affected stretch, covering the route from Netaji Stadium to Corbyn’s Cove Beach and back to Netaji Stadium, will remain closed to vehicular traffic from 4 am to 10 am on September 27, according to the traffic notification issued under the powers conferred by the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, read with the A&N Administration’s notification dated March 10, 2008.
The closure will remain in force throughout the specified period to allow the Half Marathon to be conducted along the designated route. The restriction applies to vehicular traffic on both directions of the stated stretch between the two locations.
The authorities have asked members of the general public to cooperate with the traffic arrangements during the closure. Motorists and other road users have been advised to use alternate routes as directed by the Traffic Police.
The traffic restriction is being implemented in connection with the Half Marathon organised on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of HQ Andaman & Nicobar Command.
The public advisory covers the entire six-hour closure window, from 0400 Hrs to 1000 Hrs on September 27. Road users travelling through the affected corridor during this period will need to follow directions issued by the Traffic Police and take alternate routes.
The notification has been issued under the applicable provisions governing vehicular traffic, with the temporary closure intended to facilitate the event along the Netaji Stadium–Corbyn’s Cove Beach route.
