Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 26: Strengthening the field-level capacity of mentors working on foundational literacy and numeracy, a competency-building workshop for 76 ANKURAN Mentors from across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands began today at the Auditorium of GSSS Mohanpura.
The workshop brings together one Literacy Mentor and one Numeracy Mentor from each of the 38 Cluster Resource Centres (CRCs) across the Union Territory. It is designed to strengthen their academic, mentoring and field-level capacities for carrying out their responsibilities under Mission ANKURAN.
The inaugural session brought the mentors together in person, while Coordinators from all 38 CRCs participated through video conferencing. The arrangement enabled simultaneous participation from resource centres across the Union Territory.
Sangeeta Chand, Director, A&NISCERT, underlined the role of Mission ANKURAN in strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy among students. She also emphasised the responsibility of CRC-level mentors in translating the mission into effective practice at the school level.
The workshop is focused on building the competencies required by the mentors in their academic and mentoring roles, as well as in field-level implementation. The participation of representatives from every CRC provides coverage across the 38 resource centres through the designated Literacy and Numeracy Mentors.
The programme will continue over two days, providing a common competency-building platform for the 76 mentors associated with Mission ANKURAN.
The initiative places the CRC-level mentoring structure at the centre of efforts to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy, with mentors expected to play a key role in supporting the translation of the mission into school-level practice.
The workshop is being held with in-person participation from the mentors and virtual participation by the CRC Coordinators, linking all 38 CRCs during the programme.
