Engineering Admission Window Opens for Andaman Diploma Holders Under GoI Quota

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 3: Diploma-qualified students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been invited to apply for 10 lateral entry seats in engineering courses allocated annually by the Government of India, providing eligible candidates an opportunity to pursue B.E. and B.Tech programmes in institutions located in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The admissions process has commenced in anticipation of confirmation of the seats for the academic year 2026-27. Authorities have invited online applications from eligible candidates seeking admission to various engineering disciplines under the lateral entry scheme.

According to the notification, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, allocates 10 seats every year for diploma-passed students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The seats are distributed across Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Mechanical Engineering courses.

Under the allocation, two seats in Civil Engineering have been earmarked at Daita Madhusudana Sastry Sri Venkateswara Hindu College of Engineering, Machilipatnam, and SV University College of Engineering, Tirupati. Two seats in Computer Science Engineering have been allotted at Osmania University College of Engineering, Hyderabad.

One seat in Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been allocated at Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam, while two seats in Electronics and Communication Engineering are available at Bheema Institute of Technology and Science, Adoni, Andhra Pradesh.

For Mechanical Engineering, three seats have been allotted across Osmania University College of Engineering, Hyderabad, and SV University College of Engineering, Tirupati.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online along with the required supporting documents through the admission portal Andaman & Nicobar College Admission Portal.

The application window opened on June 3, 2026, and will remain active until June 20, 2026. Authorities have clarified that no application will be accepted after the stipulated deadline.

The lateral entry scheme provides diploma holders with a pathway to enter engineering degree programmes directly at an advanced stage, enabling students from the islands to access technical education opportunities in institutions outside the Union Territory.

Candidates intending to apply have been advised to complete the online registration process and upload all necessary documents within the prescribed timeframe to be considered for admission under the allocated seats for the 2026-27 academic session.
