PM-KISAN e-KYC Mandatory For 2026–27, Farmers Warned Of Benefit Disruption

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 3: Concerns over continuity of financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme have prompted the Department of Agriculture to mandate completion of Annual Biometric e-KYC for the financial year 2026–27, warning that failure to comply by the deadline may disrupt upcoming benefit transfers.

The department has directed all PM-KISAN beneficiaries to complete the annual e-KYC process by June 30, 2026, in line with Government of India requirements. Officials clarified that even beneficiaries who have previously completed e-KYC must undergo the updated verification process for the new financial year to remain eligible for benefits.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, eligible farmer families receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year, distributed in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 every four months. According to official data, the Government of India has already released 22 instalments under the scheme to farmers across the country.

Authorities have cautioned that beneficiaries who fail to complete the mandatory biometric verification within the stipulated deadline may not receive the forthcoming instalment covering the April–July 2026 cycle. The directive places emphasis on timely compliance to ensure uninterrupted transfer of benefits.

The e-KYC process can be completed through Common Service Centres (CSCs) or at designated Agriculture Department offices. Officials have advised farmers to complete the verification at the earliest to avoid last-minute delays and possible disruption in payments.

The Agriculture Department has also urged beneficiaries to seek assistance from local offices in case of difficulties in completing the process. The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen transparency, ensure accurate beneficiary identification, and prevent duplication or misuse of scheme benefits.

Officials stated that the annual biometric verification system has been introduced to improve efficiency in fund distribution and maintain updated records of eligible farmers. The process is intended to ensure that only genuine beneficiaries continue to receive financial assistance under the centrally sponsored scheme.

The directive is expected to impact a large number of farmers who depend on PM-KISAN payments as a key source of income support. Authorities have reiterated that timely completion of e-KYC is essential for the continuation of benefits under the programme.

The Agriculture Department has appealed to all eligible farmers to complete the verification process well before the deadline to avoid any interruption in financial assistance under PM-KISAN for the 2026–27 cycle.
