Sri Vijaya Puram, June 3: The regulated distribution of drinking water across municipal limits of Sri Vijaya Puram has prompted authorities to call for urgent public cooperation, as the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) continues to manage limited water resources to ensure equitable supply for all consumers. The measure has been implemented across all municipal areas in response to ongoing resource constraints affecting consistent distribution.
The SVPMC has formally informed residents that water supply remains under regulation across the region to maintain fairness in distribution and prevent uneven access among households. The civic body stated that the system is being managed in a way that prioritises essential needs while balancing availability across all consumer zones under its jurisdiction.
In view of the current situation, the municipal council has appealed to residents to actively participate in water conservation efforts. The appeal stresses the importance of avoiding wastage and encourages households to adopt responsible usage practices to reduce pressure on the existing supply system. The council has underlined that public cooperation is essential for sustaining uninterrupted access to water.
As part of its advisory, SVPMC has also urged residents to adopt rainwater harvesting wherever feasible. The collected rainwater, the council noted, should be used for non-potable purposes such as cleaning, gardening, and other domestic activities. This measure is aimed at conserving treated drinking water, ensuring it is reserved primarily for essential consumption needs including drinking and cooking.
The civic authority further requested citizens to use municipal water judiciously and avoid unnecessary consumption. It emphasised that even small conservation efforts at the household level can collectively contribute to reducing overall demand and supporting stable distribution across the municipal network.
SVPMC has stated that it is making continuous efforts to manage the available water supply efficiently and maintain system stability despite prevailing constraints. The council highlighted that operational measures are being taken to ensure equitable distribution across all municipal areas under its jurisdiction.
However, officials noted that the effectiveness of these efforts depends significantly on public participation. The council reiterated that responsible water usage by residents is critical to sustaining supply levels during the period of regulated distribution.
With the current water management strategy in place, SVPMC continues to coordinate supply operations while urging residents to adopt conservation-oriented practices. The civic body has maintained that collective action will play a decisive role in ensuring long-term water sustainability and uninterrupted access for essential needs across Sri Vijaya Puram.
