Sri Vijaya Puram, July 16: The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs will organise the Island Monsoon Cycling Tour 2026 on July 19 as part of the Directorate of Tourism’s Calendar of Events 2026, inviting participants from government departments, educational institutions, uniformed forces, organisations and the general public to take part in the event.
The cycling tour, being conducted in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India and the Department of Tourism, will feature Open Men and Open Women categories. The event is scheduled to begin at 6.30 am from the Main Gate of Netaji Stadium.
According to the announced route, participants will start from Netaji Stadium Main Gate and proceed through B.Ed. Girls’ Hostel, GSSS Girls’ School, JNRM College, Government Press, Sinclairs Hotel, Mazar Pahad Chowk, Science Centre and Hornbill Nest before concluding the ride at Corbyn’s Cove Beach.
The event forms part of the Tourism Department’s annual calendar aimed at organising activities during the monsoon season. Authorities have opened participation to representatives from Government Departments, Uniformed Forces, Government and Private Schools, Colleges, Institutions, Organisations and members of the general public.
Participants have been asked to report at the Netaji Stadium Main Gate before 6 am on July 19 to complete registration and other formalities before the commencement of the cycling tour.
The Directorate has advised all participants to bring their own bicycles for the event, as no arrangements for bicycles have been announced by the organisers.
The cycling tour will be conducted in the Open Men and Open Women categories and will follow the designated route from Netaji Stadium to Corbyn’s Cove Beach.
The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs has requested eligible participants to reach the venue on time to facilitate smooth registration and the timely start of the event.
