Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 15: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration will organise the Island Cycling Tour–2026 on September 19, taking participants across an extensive road route from Sri Vijaya Puram to Jirkatang before returning by boat from Bambooflat, as part of efforts linked to tourism promotion and development in the Islands.
The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, in collaboration with the Directorate of Education, Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), will conduct the cycling tour. The event will begin at 9 am from the National Memorial Cellular Jail.
Participants will cycle through several parts of South Andaman before reaching Jirkatang. The outward route will cover the Water Sports Complex, Swimming Pool, Flag Point, Corbyn’s Beach, Austinabad, Prothrapur, Bathubasti, Garacharma, Sippighat, Chouldari and Tusnabad before proceeding to Ferrargunj and Jirkatang.

The return journey will follow a different route, taking participants from Jirkatang through Ferrargunj, Nayapuram, Kanyapuram and Wimberlygunj to Bambooflat Jetty. From Bambooflat, participants will return to Sri Vijaya Puram by boat.
The administration has asked interested participants to complete and sign the prescribed Entry & Declaration Form and submit it at the Office of Netaji Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram, by 5 pm on September 18. The deadline will allow authorities to complete registration and make the necessary arrangements for the tour.
Participants will have to bring their own bicycles and carry a complete cycling kit. This includes a helmet, suitable sports attire, water bottle and other essential personal safety equipment.

The cycling tour is being organised as part of initiatives aimed at promoting, developing and marketing tourism in the Islands. The route will connect the capital area with several locations across South Andaman before reaching Jirkatang, with the return leg incorporating both road travel and a boat journey.
