Sri Vijaya Puram, October 29: Public awareness about corruption, accountability and ethical conduct was the focus of a motorcycle rally organised by Andaman and Nicobar Police in Sri Vijaya Puram, as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026. The event called on citizens to remain alert to corrupt practices, report violations and uphold integrity in their personal and professional lives.
The rally was held on 26 October and flagged off by Geeta Rani Verma, Inspector General of Police (Vigilance), in the presence of Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Anti-Corruption Unit/Vigilance), and Suma Madda, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Vigilance/Headquarters). Police personnel and other participants also took part in the event.
The procession passed through several prominent locations, including the Clock Tower, Cellular Jail, Marina Park and Flag Point, carrying messages on honesty, transparency and accountability in public life.

The initiative sought to draw public attention to the role citizens can play in preventing corruption. Its central message was that combating corrupt practices requires vigilance and ethical conduct not only in public institutions but also in individuals’ personal and professional dealings.
The rally formed part of the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, which focuses on promoting integrity and preventing corruption. By taking the message through prominent public areas, the organisers aimed to reach residents and encourage greater awareness of the consequences of corrupt practices.

The programme concluded with an appeal to citizens to report corruption and contribute to good governance. The emphasis on public reporting placed responsibility on individuals to speak up when they encounter corrupt practices, alongside the broader need to uphold transparency and accountability.
The rally highlighted public awareness as one component of corruption prevention, with its message centred on individual responsibility, ethical behaviour and citizen participation in promoting integrity.
