Five-Hour Power Cut to Affect Garacharma, Chidiyatapu and Brookshabad on October 31

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 30:  Residents and businesses across several parts of Sri Vijaya Puram will face a five-hour power shutdown on October 31 as the Electricity Department undertakes preventive maintenance at the Garacharma substation and repairs distribution infrastructure. The scheduled outage, from 7 am to noon, will affect areas covered by the Garacharma, Chidiyatapu and Brookshabad feeders.

The maintenance work will include oil filtration of power transformers installed at the Garacharma substation. The department will also carry out maintenance of the ABS Murda Khadi distribution transformer structure and the 11 KV high-tension aerial bundled (ABC) cable near the solar plant.

Under the Garacharma feeder, the affected areas include Laxmi Motor, Shivaji Colony, TR Housing, MR Housing, Garacharma Basti, Susan Rose, Garacharma Medical, Kali Mandir, TTI Road, Pump House, Murda Khadi, IMFC and the entire Garacharma feeder area.

The Chidiyatapu feeder shutdown will cover Prothrapur, Austinabad, the Mariyamma Temple area, parts of Pathergudda, the locality near Ummat Public School, Brichgunj, Brookshabad, Anna Nagar, Burmanallah, Rangachang, Kodiyaghat, PTS Chidiyatapu and parts of Beodnabad.

Consumers supplied through the Brookshabad feeder will also experience the interruption. The affected localities include Bird Line, Mahaveer Nagar, Kamraj Nagar, Beodnabad, Rangachang, Burmanallah and Chidiyatapu.

The Electricity Department has clarified that the shutdown schedule is tentative and may change depending on weather conditions. It has also stated that authorities may restore power before noon if maintenance work finishes ahead of schedule, with the concerned feeder or line energised accordingly.

The interruption is part of the department’s preventive maintenance programme, which involves work on both substation transformers and distribution infrastructure.

Consumers seeking information about the shutdown or facing power supply-related problems can visit the Electricity Department’s website, https://vidyut.andaman.gov.in, or register complaints through its toll-free helpline, 1800-345-1111.
