Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 6: An Identification and Assessment Camp for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) under the Inclusive Education component of Samagra Shiksha was conducted at Hutbay, providing medical screening and educational support to eligible students while identifying children who require further evaluation.
The camp was organised by the Block Project Office (BPO), Little Andaman, at the Cluster Resource Centre (CRC), PM SHRI Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Hutbay. It formed part of ongoing efforts under the Inclusive Education programme to identify and assess children with special needs and facilitate appropriate educational support.
The programme was inaugurated by J. Senthil Kumar, Teacher In-Charge of PM SHRI GMSSS, Hutbay. Medical assessment of the participating children was carried out by a team from the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Hutbay.
A total of 26 students attended the camp along with their parents or guardians. During the identification and assessment process, four students were identified as suspected cases requiring further evaluation and intervention.
As part of the initiative, educational support materials were distributed to eligible children to assist their learning needs. Three Children with Special Needs received Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) Kits and a Braille Kit based on their individual educational requirements.
According to the organisers, the distribution of the learning materials was aimed at strengthening classroom learning and promoting inclusive participation of Children with Special Needs in the education system.
The camp brought together education and health personnel to facilitate the identification and assessment process under the Inclusive Education component of Samagra Shiksha. The medical examination was undertaken by the PHC Hutbay team, while the Block Project Office coordinated the programme at the school campus.
The initiative focused on ensuring that eligible students receive timely assessment and educational assistance based on their individual needs. Children identified as suspected cases during the camp will require further evaluation and intervention as part of the assessment process.
The camp concluded with the distribution of educational kits to eligible beneficiaries, reinforcing efforts under the Inclusive Education programme to support children with special needs through appropriate assessment and learning resources.
