Sri Vijaya Puram, July 24: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has invited applications for admission to a short-term training programme on Livestock Green Management Promoter under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0, aimed at developing skilled professionals in sustainable livestock farming.
The training programme will be conducted at the Animal Husbandry Training Institute (AHTI), Polyclinic, Livestock Farm Complex, Dollygunj. The course will run for three to four months, comprising 480 hours of training, and is aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) Level 5. The current batch has an intake capacity of 15 candidates.
According to the department, the programme has been designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to promote environmentally sustainable, eco-friendly and climate-resilient livestock management practices in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Eligible candidates include those holding a UG Diploma or equivalent qualification in Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry or Dairy Technology. Candidates who have completed the second year of a two-year diploma after Class 12 in the same disciplines are also eligible.
The department has also invited applications from candidates possessing a UG Certificate with one-and-a-half years of experience in agriculture and allied sectors, Class 12 pass candidates with three years of experience in agriculture and allied sectors, candidates holding a relevant NSQF Level 4.5 qualification with one-and-a-half years of experience, and candidates with a relevant NSQF Level 4 qualification along with three years of experience in agriculture and allied sectors.
The curriculum includes sustainable animal husbandry practices, livestock waste management, the use of renewable energy in farms, carbon footprint assessment and advisory services on eco-friendly livestock products. The department stated that these skills are intended to support sustainable agriculture, rural livelihood development and climate-resilient farming practices in the islands.
The Animal Husbandry Training Institute at Dollygunj functions under the Andaman and Nicobar Administration and has been established to meet the skill development requirements of youth, particularly in remote areas. According to the department, the institute is equipped with infrastructure required to conduct NSQF-compliant training programmes aligned with regional needs and national priorities.
Interested candidates meeting the prescribed eligibility criteria have been asked to submit their bio-data and contact the Senior Veterinary Officer at the Animal Husbandry Training Institute, Polyclinic, Dollygunj, for enrolment on or before July 30, 2026.
