Hindi Fortnight Begins Today Across A&N Offices, Schools With Competitions, Workshops and Cash Prizes

 Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 14:  The Andaman and Nicobar Administration will observe Hindi Fortnight-2026 from September 14 to 28 across its offices and educational institutions, with a series of competitions and programmes for students, employees and officers aimed at promoting the use of Hindi in official and educational settings.

Hindi Diwas will be observed on September 14 in all government offices and educational institutions. The scheduled activities will involve employees of the A&N Administration, Central Government offices, students and members of the Town Official Language Committee.

The programme will begin on September 15 with Hindi essay competitions for Tamil, Telugu and Bangla-medium students from the headquarters area. Separate competitions will be held for students of Classes 6 to 8 and Classes 9 to 10.

A Hindi typing competition for employees of the A&N Administration and the Town Official Language Committee will follow on September 16 at the Hindi Typing Training Centre of the Official Language Department, A&N Administration. On September 17, Hindi writing competitions will be conducted for Multi-Tasking Staff employees of the Administration at the same centre.

Employees of the A&N Administration and the Town Official Language Committee will participate in Hindi noting and drafting competitions on September 18 at Tagore Government College of Education.

The student-focused events will continue with elocution competitions. Students of Classes 9 and 10 from Senior Secondary Schools in the headquarters area will compete on September 21, followed by an elocution competition for Classes 11 and 12 on September 22. Both events will be held at the Hindi Typing Training Centre of the Official Language Department.

College students will participate in a self-composed poetry recitation competition on September 23 at the same centre.

The Administration has also scheduled Hindi noting and drafting competitions specifically for Gazetted Officers. Gazetted Officers of the A&N Administration will participate on September 24, while those from the Town Official Language Committee will compete on September 25. Both competitions will be conducted at the Hindi Typing Training Centre.

The observance will conclude on September 28 with a Hindi workshop for Nodal Officers (Official Language) and Hindi dealing staff from various offices of the A&N Administration. The workshop will take place at the Conference Hall of the Secretariat and will cover the Official Language Policy of the Government of India, along with the duties and responsibilities of Nodal Officers (Official Language).

During the closing ceremony of Hindi Pakhawada-2026, winners of the various competitions will receive certificates and cash prizes.
