Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 24: Students seeking allotment to professional, technical and non-technical courses reserved for Andaman and Nicobar Islands candidates at mainland institutions will have an opportunity to compete for vacant and surrendered seats during counselling on September 29.
The counselling for the 2026-27 academic session will begin at 10 AM at the Auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE). The exercise will cover one BAMS seat, four BHMS seats, one BAMS seat reserved for candidates of Malayalee origin and four seats in paramedical courses.
The four paramedical vacancies comprise one seat each in Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistance (DOA), Diploma in Radiological Radiotherapy Technology (DRRT) and Diploma in Medical Cosmetology (DMC).
Candidates whose names appear in the merit lists for the concerned courses must attend the counselling in person. They are required to carry their original educational qualification certificates and testimonials, five passport-size photographs and two permanency certificates for sureties.
Applicants must also bring documents supporting their respective category claims. The administration has made physical presence and production of the required original documents a condition for counselling and selection.
The allocation process will first consider the respective categories to which the vacant or surrendered seats belong. If a seat remains unutilised within the relevant category, it may subsequently be allotted to candidates from Category-V according to merit.
The same process will apply to the surrendered seats in BAMS for Malayalee-origin candidates, BHMS and paramedical courses. Where such seats remain unutilised after consideration within their respective categories and Category-V, they may be offered to a fresh eligible candidate present at the counselling, based on merit.
Fresh eligible candidates interested in the vacant or surrendered seats have therefore also been asked to attend the counselling with all their original testimonials.
The administration has also specified that candidates who fail to appear in person or do not produce the necessary certificates in original during counselling or selection will not be permitted to make a subsequent claim, regardless of their position in the merit list.
The September 29 counselling will thus determine allotment of the identified seats based on the prescribed category-wise process and merit among eligible candidates present at the venue.
