Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 22: Fisheries-sector MSMEs in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands can now apply for financial assistance to offset transportation and logistics costs under a government scheme offering subsidies on the movement of fish, fishery products, fish seed and feed.
The Directorate of Fisheries, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has invited applications from eligible beneficiaries under the “Subsidy on Transportation and Logistics (ANI-7) for Fisheries Sector under the RAMP Programme”. The scheme operates under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
The assistance is intended to lower eligible transportation costs, improve market access and strengthen the fisheries value chain by supporting the movement of fisheries products from the Islands to the mainland and the transportation of essential inputs to the Islands.
Under the first component, eligible beneficiaries transporting fish and fishery products from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to the mainland can claim a 20 per cent subsidy on eligible freight charges for air transportation. The assistance carries a maximum ceiling of ₹1 lakh per beneficiary in a financial year.
For transportation by ship from the Islands to the mainland, the scheme provides a 10 per cent subsidy on eligible freight charges, also subject to a maximum annual ceiling of ₹1 lakh per beneficiary.
The second component covers transportation of fisheries inputs from the mainland to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and inter-Island transportation. Beneficiaries can receive a 50 per cent subsidy on eligible freight charges for transporting fish seed and feed, with assistance capped at ₹50,000 per beneficiary per financial year.
The scheme is open to MSME-registered fish traders, fish processing units, aquaculture farms, fishermen cooperatives, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) involved in fisheries-related activities. Applicants must possess a valid Udyam Registration Certificate.
Eligible applicants can obtain the prescribed application form and annexure from the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman, during office hours on working days. The scheme guidelines are also available at the office for reference.
The application form and scheme guidelines can additionally be downloaded from the official websites of the Department of Fisheries and the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
Applicants must submit duly completed applications, along with the prescribed annexure and supporting documents, to the Zonal Fisheries Office of the respective district within 30 days from the date of shipment, as stipulated in the scheme guidelines.
The last date for receipt of completed applications and relevant documents is September 21, 2026.
