Sri Vijaya Puram, May 13: In a significant step towards strengthening intelligence coordination and enhancing modern investigation capabilities, the Andaman and Nicobar Police organized a one-day Workshop-cum-Training Programme on NATGRID Solutions in collaboration with the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The programme was held on May 11 at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Police Training Institute (NSCBPTI), Sri Vijaya Puram, and witnessed participation from senior police officers, investigating agencies and law enforcement personnel from across the Islands.
The workshop was graced by Shri Hirdesh Kumar, IAS, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), NATGRID, along with Shri Murlidhar Mishra and Shri Anup Kumar. Senior officers of Andaman and Nicobar Police and representatives from various investigating agencies also attended the programme.
The training session commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Shri Hirdesh Kumar, IAS, in the presence of senior officers of A&N Police, including Shri Sindhu Pillai, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), A&N Islands, Dr A. Koan, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Training), and other senior officers.
Welcoming the NATGRID delegation and participants, Smti Sindhu Pillai, IPS, ADGP, delivered the inaugural address and emphasized the growing importance of intelligence-sharing mechanisms and technological integration in modern policing.
She highlighted that effective coordination between agencies and timely access to intelligence data are essential in tackling emerging security challenges, organized crime, cyber threats and complex criminal investigations.
During the programme, Shri Hirdesh Kumar, IAS, delivered an introductory session on NATGRID and explained the role played by the organization in strengthening national security architecture through integrated intelligence systems.
He stressed the importance of technology-driven investigation tools and inter-agency information sharing in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of law enforcement agencies across the country.
The NATGRID team also conducted detailed technical presentations and live demonstrations showcasing various NATGRID solutions and digital platforms designed to assist investigators and intelligence agencies in real-time information analysis and coordination.
Officials stated that the workshop provided valuable exposure to officers regarding the practical use of advanced intelligence systems, digital investigation techniques and data integration tools used in contemporary policing.
A total of 52 officers of different ranks from Andaman and Nicobar Police, along with officials from agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB), attended the programme physically at NSCBPTI.
In addition, around 147 police personnel from all 26 police stations of Andaman and Nicobar Police joined the programme virtually, making it a large-scale capacity-building initiative for law enforcement personnel in the Islands.
The workshop served as an important platform for enhancing professional knowledge, strengthening inter-agency coordination and improving understanding of modern intelligence and investigation systems among participating officers.
Police officials noted that such training programmes are crucial in ensuring that officers remain updated with the latest technological advancements and investigative practices required for addressing evolving security and criminal challenges.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Smti Suma Madda, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID), who appreciated the efforts of the NATGRID team and all participants for making the workshop successful.
The entire programme was organized by Smti Suma Madda, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID) and Vice Principal, NSCBPTI, under the overall supervision of the Principal, NSCBPTI.
The Andaman and Nicobar Police expressed sincere gratitude to NATGRID for conducting the training programme and reaffirmed its commitment towards strengthening the investigative efficiency, technological preparedness and professional capabilities of police personnel across the Islands.
