GB Pant Hospital Launches Dedicated Ambulance Helplines to Boost Emergency Care

Date:

In a bid to improve emergency medical access, GB Pant Hospital in Sri Vijaya Puram has operationalised a set of dedicated helpline numbers for ambulance services. The move aims to ensure quick and streamlined transportation of patients during critical health emergencies, removing delays often faced due to a lack of proper contact channels.

Residents of Sri Vijaya Puram and surrounding regions can now avail ambulance services by dialling any of the following numbers: 102, 231463, or the all-purpose Unified Emergency Helpline 112. According to the hospital administration, these lines have been fully activated and integrated into emergency response systems, allowing quicker mobilisation of ambulances in case of urgent medical needs.

The effort is part of a broader initiative to fortify patient care in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, where remote geography often challenges access to timely healthcare. GB Pant Hospital has been designated as one of the major health institutions tasked with providing emergency care, and the helpline rollout comes at a time when public demand for dependable services has been rising.

Officials have underlined that delays in accessing ambulances during golden-hour medical emergencies can have fatal consequences. The introduction of a streamlined contact system is expected to bridge these critical gaps, especially during night hours and in cases requiring rapid transportation like cardiac arrest, trauma, or pregnancy-related emergencies.

The hospital has also advised the general public to keep these numbers easily accessible and use them judiciously during actual emergencies. The coordination mechanism has been put in place to avoid duplication and ensure that the closest available ambulance responds to a call.

This initiative reflects a growing focus on strengthening health infrastructure across island territories, where logistical hurdles often hinder emergency mobility. With the monsoon season underway, the demand for swift medical response is expected to grow, making the launch of these helpline numbers timely.
