Sri Vijaya Puram, July 15: The Directorate of Social Welfare, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has felicitated the Police Entertainment Team for its contribution to drug abuse awareness campaigns under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), recognising its role in promoting public awareness against substance abuse.
The felicitation ceremony was held under the chairmanship of the Director of Social Welfare, during which members of the Police Entertainment Team were presented medals of appreciation for using creative performances to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of leading a drug-free life.
According to the Directorate, the team has been conducting awareness programmes through music, dance, entertainment and social messaging to educate the public, particularly children and youth, about the harmful effects of substance abuse.

The Directorate said the performances have contributed to the ongoing awareness initiatives being undertaken as part of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Addressing the programme, the Director of Social Welfare appreciated the efforts of the Police Entertainment Team and said community participation and inter-departmental collaboration remain essential for achieving the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign. The Director noted that creative and engaging communication can play an important role in reaching wider sections of society with anti-drug awareness messages.
The Directorate also encouraged Government departments, educational institutions, Panchayati Raj Institutions, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to organise awareness programmes aimed at preventing drug abuse.

It stated that support under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction will continue to be extended for initiatives that strengthen awareness and community participation in the fight against substance abuse.
The public was also encouraged to take the Nasha Mukt Bharat e-Pledge and motivate family members, friends and colleagues to participate in the campaign. According to the Directorate, wider public participation can contribute to building a healthier and drug-free society.
The felicitation forms part of the Administration’s ongoing awareness initiatives to promote coordinated action against substance abuse through public outreach, community engagement and educational campaigns.
