South Andaman District Planning Committee to Finalise 2027–28 Action Plan During Three-Day Meeting

Sri Vijaya Puram, October 9:  The South Andaman District Planning Committee will meet from October 12 to 14 to finalise the district’s prioritised Action Plan for 2027–28 and set priorities for the 2026–27 plans of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), covering South Andaman district, including the Campbell Bay revenue area.

P. Ummer, Adhyaksh of the Zilla Parishad, will chair the three-day meeting at the Zilla Parishad conference hall in South Andaman. Members of the District Planning Committee, special invitees and secretaries and heads of departments implementing plans under the Andaman and Nicobar Administration will participate in the discussions.

The department-wise schedule allocates different sets of administrative and sectoral departments to each day, covering infrastructure, public services, rural development, municipal administration, law and order, tribal welfare and other areas.

On October 12, the committee will take up matters concerning the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD), Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Health, Education, JNRM, ANCOL, DBRAIT, Tagore College, Law College, Sports and Youth Affairs, Social Welfare, and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.

The October 13 session will cover Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Institutions, the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC), District Administration, Information Technology, Power (Electricity), Shipping, the Port Management Board, Transport, Environment and Forest, and Industries.

On October 14, discussions will involve the Police and Fire Brigade, District Jail, Arts and Culture, Civil Aviation, Personnel (Cash), Information, Publicity and Tourism (IP&T), Government Press, Tribal Welfare, Disaster Management, Accounts and Budget, Labour, Employment and Training, Science and Technology, the Law Department, Economics and Statistics, and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS).

The meeting’s stated agenda includes finalising the prioritised district action plan for 2027–28 and identifying priorities for the 2026–27 action plans of PRIs across the district’s specified jurisdiction. The scheduled participation of departmental secretaries and heads is intended to bring the plan-implementing departments into the district-level planning exercise.

The three-day schedule places discussions on public infrastructure, essential services, local governance and administrative sectors across separate sessions, with the committee set to address the planning priorities for the two financial years.
