Power Supply to Remain Suspended in Several South Andaman Areas for Five Hours on September 19

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 17:  Power supply will remain suspended for five hours on September 19 across several areas of South Andaman, affecting households, consumers and government establishments, as the electricity department carries out HT line clearance and replaces damaged low-tension aerial bundled cable at Kanyapuram.

The shutdown will be in force from 8 am to 1 pm at Kamsarat Dam, Kadakachang-I, Kadakachang-II, Model Village, Padauk Bagicha, Mannarghat, Malapuram, Wright Myo, Shoal Bay Panchayat area, Ferrargunj site office and Kanyapuram.

The scheduled interruption is linked to clearance work on the high-tension line, including the cutting and trimming of bushes. The work will also include replacement of damaged LT ABC at Kanyapuram.

The affected electrical works are attached to the Wimberlygunj site office under the South Andaman Division. The advisory has been issued to the general public, consumers and government departments in the affected areas ahead of the scheduled maintenance.

Residents and establishments in the listed locations will therefore experience the interruption during the five-hour work window on September 19. The shutdown notice covers both residential and government-use areas identified in the power department’s advisory.

The maintenance programme combines vegetation clearance along the HT line with repair-related work on the LT network at Kanyapuram, requiring the temporary suspension of supply across the specified areas.

The power interruption is scheduled specifically for 8 am to 1 pm on September 19, 2026.
