Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 19: The Central TB Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched the TB Mukt Bharat App, a digital platform aimed at strengthening tuberculosis care, improving public awareness and encouraging greater community participation in efforts towards TB elimination.
The application has been launched under the National TB Elimination Programme and is designed to provide users with access to information and services related to tuberculosis. According to the information available, the platform is intended to support TB patients throughout their treatment journey by offering treatment guidance, adherence support and follow-up assistance.
The app is also integrated with existing systems such as Nikshay, with the objective of facilitating seamless delivery of patient-centric services.
Apart from supporting patients, the TB Mukt Bharat App has been designed as a source of information on tuberculosis. It provides information relating to symptoms, prevention and treatment, with the broader objective of helping people access accurate information and encouraging early diagnosis.
The platform also seeks to address stigma associated with tuberculosis by making reliable information more accessible to the public.
A significant component of the application is its focus on community participation through the Nikshay Mitra initiative. Through the app, members of the public, institutions, corporates and organisations can register as Nikshay Mitras and extend support to TB patients during their treatment period.
The support may include nutritional, social or financial assistance, enabling individuals and organisations to participate directly in assisting patients undergoing treatment.
Another feature of the application is “Khushi – Aap Ke e-Sangini”, an interactive chatbot intended to provide users with instant information related to tuberculosis. The chatbot can respond to queries concerning TB symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and available government support services.
The introduction of a digital platform bringing together patient guidance, awareness material, follow-up assistance and community participation could help improve access to information and support systems available under the TB elimination programme.
The app is expected to function as a digital interface for different stakeholders, including patients, members of the public and organisations interested in supporting individuals undergoing TB treatment.
The initiative also places emphasis on treatment adherence, an important aspect of tuberculosis care, by providing patients with guidance and follow-up support through the application. The integration with Nikshay is aimed at ensuring continuity in the delivery of patient-centric services.
Members of the public have been encouraged to download and actively use the TB Mukt Bharat App to access information on tuberculosis and the services available through the platform.
Citizens, institutions, corporates and organisations have also been encouraged to participate in the Nikshay Mitra initiative by registering through the app and supporting TB patients in need during their treatment.
The launch of the platform brings together several components of the tuberculosis response in a single digital interface, including awareness, patient support, treatment-related guidance and community participation.
For TB patients, the application is intended to provide support during different stages of their treatment journey. For the wider public, it offers access to information regarding the disease, its symptoms, prevention and treatment.
The app also provides an avenue for members of the community to contribute towards supporting TB patients through the Nikshay Mitra initiative.
The TB Mukt Bharat App is part of efforts under the National TB Elimination Programme to strengthen tuberculosis care, enhance awareness and promote participation from communities and other stakeholders in the larger effort towards eliminating the disease.
