Mumbai, Oct 19: Three people, including a juvenile, have been detained in Rajasthan’s Kota in connection with the firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai, as investigators seek to establish the roles of the suspects and the motive behind the attack that injured two people.
The Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force and Kota City Police detained the three at Kota railway station while they were travelling by train, according to sources. The detainees are being questioned at Kota City Police Station, and further details are awaited.
The shooting occurred at around 7 pm on October 18, 2026, when Shroff was returning by car after playing football in Mumbai’s Juhu area. According to the complaint, two unidentified assailants approached the vehicle as it exited the school grounds and turned left, then opened fire with pistols from the front and left side.
Shroff escaped injury, but his caretaker and driver, Firdos Ibrahim Baloch, sustained gunshot wounds. Police also said another person in the area was hit by a bullet. The assailants fled after the shooting.

One of the detained men has been identified as Hritik Kumar, alias Roshan, 22, a native of Piprai village in Bihar’s Begusarai district. He was living near Urdu School in Mumbai’s Andheri West and working as a bike rider, according to sources. Another detainee has been identified as Rehan, 18, from Sonipat in Haryana. The identity of the third person has not been disclosed, though sources said the group includes a juvenile.
Juhu Police registered a case against three unidentified people in connection with the firing. The FIR invokes Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Investigators are working to identify the alleged shooters, determine each suspect’s role and establish the circumstances behind the attack.
Within hours of the shooting, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility in a social media post. The claim has not, in the information provided, been independently established as evidence of who carried out the attack or why.
The incident prompted a response from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who contacted the Mumbai Police Commissioner to seek details. He directed the commissioner to investigate the case immediately and take strict action against those responsible.
Congress leaders also raised concerns about public safety in Mumbai. Sachin M. Sawant, national secretary of the All India Congress Committee, described the shooting as shocking and cited previous incidents, including the murder of Baba Siddique and firing outside actor Salman Khan’s residence, while criticising the state’s law-and-order situation.
Varsha Eknath Gaikwad, MP and president of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee, questioned who was responsible for ensuring residents’ safety and called for action by the authorities.
The investigation remains underway, with the detained individuals being questioned in Kota and Mumbai Police pursuing the case.
