SVPMC to Begin Ward-Wise Street Vendor Survey From July 6 Across Sri Vijaya Puram

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 01: The Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) will begin a comprehensive ward-wise survey of street vendors from July 6 to verify genuine vendors for the issuance of Certificates of Vending (CoV), as mandated under the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014.

The survey will be conducted by the Town Vending Committee (TVC) within the jurisdiction of SVPMC through duly constituted Survey Teams. The exercise is aimed at establishing the authenticity of street vendors operating in designated vending zones and ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014.

According to the approved schedule, the ward-wise survey will commence on July 6 and continue until August 1, 2026. Survey Teams will visit each ward on designated dates to verify vendors engaged in street vending activities.

The survey will begin with Wards 1 and 13 on July 6 and 7, followed by Wards 2 and 14 on July 8 and 9, Wards 3 and 15 on July 10 and 11, Wards 4 and 16 on July 13 and 14, Wards 5 and 17 on July 15 and 16, Wards 6 and 18 on July 17 and 18, Wards 7 and 19 on July 20 and 21, Wards 8 and 20 on July 22 and 23, Wards 9 and 21 on July 24 and 25, Wards 10 and 22 on July 27 and 28, Wards 11 and 23 on July 29 and 30, and conclude with Wards 12 and 24 on July 31 and August 1.

The Town Vending Committee has issued detailed instructions for vendors participating in the survey. Only vendors who are physically present and actively engaged in vending within the designated vending zones during the survey will be considered for verification.

Authorities have made it mandatory for vendors to remain present along with their vending carts at the time of the survey. They must also keep two passport-size photographs, a valid identity proof such as an Aadhaar Card or Voter ID, and a mobile number ready for verification.

The Committee has directed vendors to cooperate fully with the Survey Teams and provide accurate information during the verification process. It has also clarified that vendors who are absent from their respective wards during the scheduled survey will not be considered for the issuance of a Certificate of Vending.

The Administration further stated that vendors shortlisted after the survey will subsequently be required to submit an affidavit regarding their financial status in accordance with the applicable scheme provisions to determine their eligibility.

The Town Vending Committee has urged all street vendors operating within the jurisdiction of the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council to take note of the survey schedule and ensure their presence with the prescribed documents on the allotted dates to facilitate the verification process.
