Sri Vijaya Puram, May 14: The Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) conducted an anti-encroachment drive in Sri Vijaya Puram as part of ongoing efforts to regulate public spaces, maintain pedestrian movement and prevent unauthorized commercial activities in restricted areas.
During the enforcement drive, unauthorized shops operating near the Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School were removed by municipal authorities. According to officials, the shops had been established in a restricted area in violation of municipal regulations governing public spaces and non-vending zones.
The Council stated that strict action would continue against unauthorized commercial activities operating in prohibited locations across the city.

SVPMC also reiterated that the stretch from Rama Krishna Mission to Flag Point has officially been designated as a Non-Vending Zone, where no commercial activity would be permitted.
According to the municipal body, encroachments on footpaths, roadsides and other notified public areas create inconvenience for pedestrians and affect civic order. The Council stated that it follows a zero-tolerance policy against such encroachments and unauthorized structures erected in restricted areas are liable to be removed without further notice.
Vendors and shopkeepers have been advised to operate only within designated vending zones and ensure that they possess valid municipal permissions and licenses before carrying out business activities.
The municipal body further cautioned that violations of municipal regulations may result in immediate seizure of goods, removal of structures and imposition of penalties under applicable rules.
The anti-encroachment exercise forms part of broader civic enforcement measures being undertaken to maintain cleanliness, accessibility and organized urban management within Sri Vijaya Puram.
Reaffirming its commitment towards maintaining public spaces and civic discipline, the Council appealed to residents, vendors and members of the business community to cooperate with municipal authorities and comply with existing regulations governing vending and public use areas.
