Sri Vijaya Puram, June 30: The Fisheries Department has initiated the process to cancel the registrations of several motorised fishing boats operating under the jurisdiction of South Andaman, publishing a proposed list and inviting objections from boat owners and stakeholders within a 10-day window before any final decision is taken.
The proposed action has been initiated by the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman, following verification of available records and assessment of the present physical status of registered motorised fishing boats. The exercise forms part of a data correction initiative aimed at ensuring systematic management of fishing vessel information in the ReALCRaft portal.
According to the Fisheries Department, the proposed list covers motorised fishing boats registered under the South Andaman jurisdiction that have been identified during the verification process for cancellation of registration. The department has stated that the exercise is intended to improve the accuracy of official records and strengthen the management of fishing boat data maintained through the ReALCRaft portal.
To ensure transparency and provide affected stakeholders an opportunity to respond, the proposed list has been placed in the public domain. It has been published on the official website of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the website of the Department of Fisheries, and displayed on the notice boards of the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman, Fisheries Substations and Fish Landing Centres across the South Andaman district.
The Fisheries Department has invited boat owners, operators and other stakeholders to examine the published list carefully and verify whether any of the listed vessels are subject to objections or claims. Individuals possessing relevant information concerning any of the proposed boats have been asked to submit their representations along with supporting documents to the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman.
The department has fixed a deadline of 10 days from the date of publication of the notice for submission of objections, claims or any relevant information relating to the listed fishing boats. Officials have clarified that all representations must be supported by appropriate documentary evidence for consideration during the verification process.
The Fisheries Department has further stated that no objections or claims received after the expiry of the prescribed period will be entertained. Stakeholders have therefore been urged to submit their representations within the stipulated timeframe to ensure their concerns are examined before any final action is taken on the proposed cancellation of registrations.
The exercise is part of the department’s ongoing effort to update and streamline official records relating to registered motorised fishing boats under the South Andaman jurisdiction through the ReALCRaft portal.
