The Wave Andaman Poll: What Should Be the New LG’s Top Priority?

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 15:  With Dr. Dinesh Sharma assuming charge as the new Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, The Wave Andaman is asking Islanders what they believe should be the top priority of the new administration.

Dr. Sharma, who arrived in the Islands on Sunday, has spoken about the region’s tourism potential, strategic importance, environmental value and the need for development to be carried out in accordance with rules and public interest.

His arrival comes at a time when Islanders are seeking attention to several issues affecting everyday life, including air connectivity and high airfares, healthcare facilities, infrastructure, tourism development, employment opportunities and the cost of living.

Against this backdrop, The Wave Andaman is launching a public poll to understand what Islanders want the new Lieutenant Governor to prioritise during the early phase of his tenure.

The poll will focus on three broad areas that have a direct bearing on the Islands’ development and quality of life:

1. Better Connectivity and Essential Infrastructure

Improving air and sea connectivity, roads, healthcare infrastructure and other essential public facilities.

2. Tourism and Local Economic Development

Unlocking the Islands’ tourism potential while creating greater employment and business opportunities for local residents.

3. Governance and Public Services

Improving the delivery of government services, addressing administrative gaps and ensuring that public concerns are resolved efficiently and transparently.

The poll is intended to give Islanders a simple platform to indicate where they believe immediate attention is required.

Poll Question:

What should be the top priority for the new LG, Dr. Dinesh Sharma?

A. Connectivity & Infrastructure

B. Tourism & Local Economy

C. Governance & Public Services

The results will provide a snapshot of public sentiment at the beginning of the new Lieutenant Governor’s tenure and will form part of The Wave Andaman’s continuing coverage of governance and development issues in the Islands.
