Missing Toddler Traced Within Two Hours in Mayabunder After Search Operation

Date:

Mayabunder, April 14: A one-and-a-half-year-old child reported missing from Karmatang No. 10 in Mayabunder was traced within two hours on April 13, following a search operation initiated after a complaint of suspected kidnapping was filed at the local police station.

According to the complaint lodged by the child’s mother, Nilima Toppo, the incident occurred at around 1630 hours when she had returned from her mother’s residence along with her two daughters. The family had stopped to rest under a tree due to intense heat, during which the younger child was playing nearby.

After a brief period, the child was found missing. Immediate efforts were made by the family to locate her in the surrounding area, but the search did not yield any results. The mother subsequently approached Police Station Mayabunder and reported the matter as a case of missing and suspected kidnapping.

Following the complaint, a case was registered at the police station, and a search operation was initiated in and around Karmatang No. 10 and adjoining areas. A team of police personnel was deployed to conduct the search under the supervision of the officer in charge of the police station.

The search operation focused on nearby localities and accessible areas where the child could have moved or been taken. Within approximately two hours of the report being filed, the missing child was located by the search team.

After completing the required formal procedures, the child was reunited with her mother. No further details regarding the circumstances under which the child was found have been disclosed.

The incident drew attention to the vulnerability of young children in open and public spaces, particularly in situations where environmental conditions, such as extreme heat, may lead families to temporarily halt during travel.

Authorities have reiterated the importance of immediate reporting in cases involving missing persons, particularly minors, to enable timely search and response measures.

The case was handled by personnel from Police Station Mayabunder, who coordinated the search efforts across the identified areas following the registration of the complaint.

The sequence of events, from the initial report to the tracing of the child, unfolded within a short time frame, concluding with the safe return of the minor to her family.
