Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 5: A minor girl from Dollygunj who went missing in July after allegedly leaving the islands with a man from West Bengal has been traced and safely brought back to Sri Vijaya Puram, while the man remains absconding and police continue efforts to locate him.
According to information received from sources, the minor was allegedly in a relationship with the man, who is originally from West Bengal and had been working in Sri Vijaya Puram. She reportedly left the islands with him and travelled to West Bengal without the knowledge of her family.
Following her disappearance, the minor’s mother lodged a complaint at Pahargaon Police Station, prompting police to begin an investigation into her whereabouts. During the course of the investigation, police traced the minor and the suspected man to West Bengal.

A police team was subsequently sent to West Bengal to locate the minor and follow up on the case. The team reportedly found her at the residence of the suspected man. Police then brought the minor back to Sri Vijaya Puram on August 22, where she was safely handed over to her family.
The suspected man, however, was not found with the minor when police recovered her and remains absconding. His present whereabouts are not known, and police are continuing their search to trace him.
The investigation remains underway, with police pursuing further leads to locate the suspected man and establish the circumstances surrounding the minor’s movement from the islands to West Bengal.
The case began after the minor’s family reported her disappearance in July, following which the investigation extended beyond the islands and led police to West Bengal. Her safe return to Sri Vijaya Puram has brought the immediate search for the minor to an end, but efforts to locate the suspected man continue.
Police are yet to trace the man, and further action in the matter will depend on the progress of the ongoing investigation.
