Lt Governor Reviews Marine Hill Project, Sets 18-Month Completion Deadline

Date:

Lt Governor Admiral D. K. Joshi (Retd.) conducted an on-site inspection of the proposed redevelopment of the Marine Hill Circuit House project, directing officials to execute the work in mission mode and complete it within a strict 18-month timeline.

During the visit, the Lt Governor, who also serves as Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, was briefed through a detailed presentation on the redevelopment plan in the presence of the Chief Secretary and senior officials of the administration. The review focused on project design, infrastructure planning, and timelines for execution.

Emphasising the need for quality infrastructure, the Lt Governor instructed that the facility be developed as a best-in-class establishment. He directed officials to ensure that the project integrates sustainable and environment-friendly features as part of its core design.

As part of these directives, the Lt Governor mandated the inclusion of captive rainwater harvesting systems within the basement structure of the building. He also called for the installation of rooftop solar panels to support energy requirements and reduce dependence on conventional power sources.

Officials were further instructed to ensure full compliance with established green building norms throughout the execution of the project. The emphasis on sustainability reflects a broader administrative focus on environmentally responsible infrastructure development in the islands.

The Lt Governor underlined the importance of timely delivery and directed that the redevelopment be carried out in mission mode, with close monitoring at all stages. The 18-month completion target was set to ensure that the facility becomes operational within a defined timeframe.

The presence of senior administrative officials during the inspection indicates that the project is being closely overseen at multiple levels. The redevelopment of the Marine Hill Circuit House is expected to be undertaken in accordance with the outlined directives, with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and adherence to timelines.
