Sri Vijaya Puram, May 19: Lieutenant Governor Admiral D.K. Joshi reviewed major tourism and infrastructure proposals in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, including five-star resort projects being developed under the Islands Development Agency and the proposed redevelopment of the Marine Hill Circuit House in Sri Vijaya Puram.
According to official information, the Lieutenant Governor reviewed a presentation by ANIIDCO regarding tourism infrastructure projects planned in public-private partnership mode across several islands.
The projects include proposed five-star resorts at Sri Vijaya Puram, Shaheed Dweep, Swaraj Dweep, Long Island and Aves Island.
Officials said the proposals also include development of a world-class golf course and leisure destination at Rangachang as part of efforts to strengthen high-end tourism infrastructure in the islands.
The review meeting was held at Lok Niwas in the presence of Chief Secretary Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar and senior officers of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
In a separate meeting, the Lieutenant Governor also reviewed a presentation by the Andaman Public Works Department regarding the proposed redevelopment of the Marine Hill Circuit House in Sri Vijaya Puram.
The redevelopment project is being planned to meet international standards, officials said.
The Administration has been pursuing tourism-focused infrastructure projects as part of broader efforts to position the islands as a premium tourism destination while expanding hospitality and visitor facilities.
Officials said the proposed projects are expected to strengthen tourism infrastructure and improve visitor experience across key destinations in the archipelago.
