Sri Vijaya Puram, May 19: IndianOil has assured residents of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands that supplies of petrol, diesel and LPG remain stable and uninterrupted across the Union Territory, amid efforts to prevent panic buying and misinformation regarding fuel availability.
In an official statement issued on Sunday, IndianOil said the availability of essential petroleum products, including Motor Spirit (petrol), High-Speed Diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas, continues to remain normal across all supply channels in the islands.
Officials stated that the overall fuel supply position in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands remains adequate and stable, with the entire supply chain functioning without disruption.
According to the statement, operations at fuel terminals, depots and retail outlets are continuing efficiently while stock replenishment activities are progressing smoothly across all locations.
The oil company also clarified that LPG supplies to domestic consumers are being prioritised and remain normal throughout the Union Territory.
Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored to ensure uninterrupted delivery of cooking gas cylinders and other petroleum products to consumers across the islands.
IndianOil stated that it is maintaining close coordination regarding logistics, stock movement and retail operations to ensure seamless availability of fuel in the region.
The clarification comes amid concerns and public speculation regarding fuel availability in certain parts of the islands, prompting authorities to appeal for calm and responsible consumption.
Officials urged residents not to engage in panic buying and advised consumers to continue with normal purchasing patterns.
The statement further appealed to the public to rely only on official communications for accurate and verified information regarding fuel supply and availability.
The assurance was issued on behalf of Rakesh Kumar, State Level Coordinator (Oil Industry), Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Deputy General Manager (Terminal), Port Blair Terminal of Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
The communication was issued by Debabrata Bandyopadhyay, General Manager (Corporate Communications), Eastern Regional Office, Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
Fuel supply and logistics remain particularly critical for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands due to the Union Territory’s geographical isolation and dependence on maritime transport for movement of petroleum products and other essential commodities.
Authorities said continuous monitoring and coordination are being maintained to avoid any disruption in supply and ensure smooth functioning of fuel distribution systems across the islands.
