LG Dinesh Sharma Reviews Major Development Projects on First Day in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 17:  New Lieutenant Governor Dinesh Sharma on his first day in office reviewed the Andaman and Nicobar Administration’s ongoing major development projects, while holding separate meetings with the Member of Parliament, civic leadership, BJP representatives and social organisations on development-related issues.

Sharma reviewed a presentation by the A&N Administration on major projects currently being undertaken across the islands. Chief Secretary Gyanesh Bharti, DGP Ravindra Singh Yadav, PCCF Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Sachin Shinde and other senior administrative officers attended the review.

The review placed the administration’s ongoing development works before the new Lieutenant Governor as he began his tenure in the islands.

Member of Parliament Bishnu Pada Ray also met Sharma at Lok Niwas and discussed matters concerning the development and progress of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Vasantha, Chairperson of the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, separately called on the Lieutenant Governor and discussed Smart City projects being implemented in municipal areas of the islands. The meeting focused on the timely completion of these projects.

Bharatiya Janata Party Andaman and Nicobar Islands president Anil Tiwari, along with party members, also met Sharma at Lok Niwas. Discussions covered various development projects underway in the islands.

Representatives of Vidyarthi Parishad, Vidya Bharati, Vigyan Bharati, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and other social organisations subsequently met the Lieutenant Governor.

The representatives held detailed discussions with Sharma on the holistic development of the islands and related projects.

The series of meetings brought together the administration, elected representatives, civic leadership, political representatives and social organisations on Sharma’s first day after assuming charge as Lieutenant Governor.

The engagements covered ongoing development projects at the administration level, Smart City works in municipal areas, broader issues concerning island development and projects raised by social organisations.
