Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 17: Students in 100 government schools across nine educational zones of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will receive online academic mentoring and learning support under a new collaboration between the Directorate of Education and IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, IIT Madras.
The two institutions exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen school education through technology-enabled academic support, teacher mentoring and innovative learning initiatives in selected government schools across the Union Territory.
The agreement was exchanged by Director (Education) Aditya Sangotra and IITM Pravartak Chief Technology Officer Mohan Satyaranjan.
The collaboration will draw on the academic and technological expertise of IIT Madras and its partner initiatives to expand learning opportunities for students and provide professional support to teachers. The programme will give particular attention to Mathematics and Science education for students in Classes VI to VIII.
Under the Vidya Shakti initiative, online academic mentoring and quality learning support will be extended to government schools across all nine educational zones of the islands. The initiative will use technology to address geographical barriers to access and connect students with academic resources beyond the limitations of physical location.
The programme also includes teacher-focused support as part of the broader academic collaboration. The stated objective is to strengthen classroom-level learning through technology-enabled interventions and mentoring.
For students in government schools across the islands, the initiative is designed to widen access to academic support in Mathematics and Science while connecting schools in different geographical areas to a common technology-enabled learning framework.
The partnership places the Vidya Shakti initiative within the Directorate of Education’s collaboration with IITM Pravartak, with the programme covering 100 government schools and students from Classes VI to VIII.
The institutions said the collaboration would focus on bridging geographical gaps, expanding access to academic resources and strengthening meaningful learning outcomes at the classroom level.
The MoU marks the formalisation of the collaboration between the A&N Education Directorate and IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation for the selected government schools.
